10. I'm going to wait for better technology

But: A unique ground floor opportunity exists for those who now have a presence on the Net. Another benefit of not waiting it that companies can enjoy the leeway of experimenting with different marketing strategies, testing new approached and adapting them to attract to users and customers.
9. It's all hype. Very few people and my potential customers are not actually using the Internet (and those who do are just a bunch of computer nerds).

But: The Net has millions of users and is growing at an estimated two million new users a month. Statistics show that the demographics of the average Internet user is young (age 18 to 44), educated and professional, with a high earning
capacity.
8. There's too much potential for consumer fraud.

But: There is more risk in giving your credit card to a salesman in a store or a waiter in a restaurant than by placing an order on the Internet.


7. It's too expensive. I already rely on traditional advertising.

But: For the reach that is afforded by the Internet, it's by far the most cost-effective marketing method ever devised. An Internet presence is much less expensive than traditional advertising. For example the same ad that costs $200 a day in a newspaper would cost you pennies a day on the Internet.
6. I can't market my service or local business on the Net.

But: Yes, you can't cut someone's hair on the Net or reach through your computer screen and give them a massage, but you can enable customers to block off time in interactive sites that transmit your business hours, available appointments, etc. The Net is for all businesses!


5. The Internet is mostly for perverts desiring erotic stimulation, i.e. looking at dirty pictures.

But: Cable television has X-rated adult programming available, but unless you ask for it, you won't get it. The same goes for the Internet.


4. I don't have a computer. A lot of people and my customers don't have computers.

3. It's too hard for customers to find my Web site.

Digging one's heels into reactionary business practices spells imminent fiscal doom.
